Question:
Wal-Mart's incredibly poor quality products?
2009-10-27 09:09:57 UTC
After "saving" on the initial price on a product, I am starting to wonder if Wal-Mart sells virtual-reality products...

Expensive toasters that crap out after 4 months...

Underwear that fall apart at the seams in 2-3 months...

DVD players that last 6 months...

Anyone else getting their "shop-smart, savings" at Wal-Mart??

They try to get the cheapest items and then try to squeeze the suppliers for every last nickle. You're better off going to a place like Target or, if you are a member, Costco. Avoid Sam's Club, it is the same company as Walmart. z

I shop there pretty regulary for groceries and most every other item in the store. Other than their fresh meats, which I don't care for, I haven't noticed what you are seeing. The stuff I buy there isn't "premium", but I haven't had anything fall apart like you describe. As for DVDs (movies), there is an international standard for exact size and thickness of any DVD. Wal-mart would have no say in a producing a 'thin' DVD. As for the blank DVDs, I have bought cheap brands at other places and had the same problem, so it isn't just WalMart. Once, I even had a batch of "Brand" name blanks that were bad. Be careful of all "made in USA" labels though -- there is a city in a northern Japanese island named, "Usa". That thing you think is made in America might be made in Usa, Japan. .

Yes, I HATE Walmart. Everything you get there turns out to be poor quality in the end and everything is a total rip-off. My mom rarely shops there. Besides that, the whole atmosphere is crap. I prefer Target much more. We've even bought several laptops from Walmart before and most of them didn't work or were crappy quality. And they were Acers!

I agree. The other thing is they kill me placing things of the same thing way across the store, I was trying to find some Band Aids (a Special Kind) and there was the bandaid isle and there was the special Aid Isle, It took me forever in there last time.

I bought a cell phone charger it lasted all of 1 week & the tip that fits in the phone broke off. Took it back for a refund. Sometimes less expensive means cheaply made!

I agree with the electronics, but man the other day I got some cheap pop-tarts from there and they were better than the name brand. There was more filling and the frosting was much better.
